Is this your first time at a fun con? Or even just your first time at Fur the More? Well come on in and learn the Dos and Don’ts of being at a fur con from dealing with fur suits to the 6/2/1 rule. A great way to start your convention and learn the best way to have a good time.
Admitting that you are a Furry or a Therian online or IRL can be a daunting proposition. It seems to be one of the few groups that it is still OK to openly mock and even hate. The goal of this panel is to have an open discussion on why this may happen and how we, as a collective community, can begin to counteract it. As a middle-aged therian, being open about who I am has been a goal (and a struggle) my entire life, but I think being open helps to (ironically) humanize us to the masses. The hope is that the participants in our talk can also share some of their stories of discrimination and how they might have overcome this with some people. Even if it is a little thing, it may help the person next to you to also overcome some obstacles they are facing. It is how we as a community help each other. This will be a safe space for all to discuss their experiences and thoughts and hopefully we can come up with some actionable goals to keep improving the perception of therians and furries for future generations!
An overview of what it takes to create and run a business in the furry fandom, both in-person and online. We'll answer any question in this interactive panel and share our approach to it all. Scaly Shop has been a dealer at over 17 cons around the world in just 2 years and is happy to share what we've learned along the way. Everyone is welcome to join!
Join professional therapist (and proud Furry), Julie Colatrella, for a discussion on the connections between mental health and being Furry! We'll discuss mental health trends within the fandom, talk about why and how being a Furry can be great (and sometimes not great) for your mental health, and provide some wellness tips and resources for finding help. This panel is appropriate for anyone of any age, and we will have time for questions at the end.
Got questions about Fur the More? Is this your child's first convention and you're not sure what to expect? Curious about running events, or even about the chair themselves. Come and ask us anything you want to ask.
Come out and see what happens behind the closed doors of conventions. Sit back and listen to the stories that you were never meant to find out about from our panel of convention staff and board members. Enjoy the stories and find out why that cop was shaking his head well laughing.
